The limits of Count & Chance's educational models, synthetic data, statistical explanations, and external references.
Published August 19, 2026 / Updated August 19, 2026
Effective date: August 19, 2026. Count & Chance is an educational publication. Its guides and interactive labs are intended to help readers inspect statistical ideas, not to make decisions for them.
Educational information, not professional advice
Nothing on this site is medical, legal, financial, investment, engineering, safety, gambling, or other professional advice. The examples are not a substitute for a qualified adviser, a validated analysis plan, domain-specific software, regulatory guidance, or an independent review of consequential work.
Synthetic models are not real-world findings
Unless a page explicitly says otherwise, every dataset on Count & Chance is generated for teaching. A lab's output describes the assumptions and values shown on that page. It is not a measurement of a real person, population, product, market, treatment, election, or future event. Similar-looking real data can behave differently because of sampling, measurement, missing variables, dependence, model choice, or ordinary uncertainty.
Results have boundaries
Interactive controls simplify a statistical question so one relationship can be seen clearly. A stable seed makes an example reproducible, but it does not make the example representative. Rounded displays, finite simulation runs, and deliberately limited parameter ranges can also differ from a full analysis. Before applying an idea elsewhere, check the page's assumptions, inspect the values behind the chart, and verify important calculations independently.
Accuracy and updates
The publication uses cited sources, deterministic tests, editorial review, and a correction process, but it cannot guarantee that every explanation, calculation, source, or interactive feature will always be complete, current, or error-free. Statistical terminology and external guidance can change. The reviewed date on a page describes the publication's review, not an endorsement by a cited organization.
External sources
Links are provided so readers can inspect definitions and context. Count & Chance does not control third-party availability, accessibility, security, later revisions, or material beyond the linked source. A citation does not imply sponsorship or endorsement by either party.
